WHETHER YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR SIMPLY WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS... HERE, WE BREAK DOWN THE TECHNICAL DETAILS AND ANSWER THE MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS ASKED BY CUSTOMERS.
**APPLICABLE VEHICLE MODEL YEARS:
-LEXUS IS300: 2000 - 2005
-LEXUS GS300: 1998 - 2005
Are you having issues with your 2JZ GS300 or IS300 where you experience loss of power, stalling, and are getting codes for multiple random cylinder misfires (and possibly ECT sensor and O2 sensor malfunction codes)?
Using a digital multimeter, check the integrity of the wiring that routes from the igniter to each coil pack. Disconnect the coil connectors, the igniter connector, and the noise filter connector (located on a bracket on the intake plenum). Check for continuity between Terminal 1 (terminal closest to clip on coil connector) of each coil connector and terminal +B of the igniter connector. There should be less than 0.8 ohms between these terminals.
Next, check for continuity between terminal 2 of each coil connector (terminal furthest from connector clip) and their corresponding terminal at the igniter.
Coil 1 (cylinder 6) : C1 terminal of igniter connector
Coil 2 (cylinder 2) : C2 terminal of igniter connector
Coil 3 (cylinder 4) : C3 terminal of igniter connector
There should only be continuity between these terminals, if there is continuity between non-corresponding terminals, then there is a damaged wire that is shorting with another damaged wire.
There should be NO CONTINUITY between the +B terminals and terminal 2 of any of the coil connectors or C1, C2, C3 terminals of igniter connector.
All continuity connections should not be more than 1 ohm (use the continuity test function on your multimeter if available for these tests).
Finally, check all terminals for continuity to vehicle ground. +B terminals should show a high resistance and the other terminals should have absolutely NO CONTINUITY. If there is any reading at all between ground and C1, C3, C3, or terminal 2 of any of the connectors then there is an exposed wire that must be located and fixed. This is what causes strange codes to pop up, when you have the coil voltage shorting to ground, as the ECT and O2 sensors are grounded on the same circuit very near where the coil wires tend to crack and begin short circuiting.
Check your ignition coil harness amd connectors for visible damage (cut away the factory thermal sleeve wrap because that protective sleeve doesn't protect the wires from thermal degradation.
If you find that faulty harness wires are your problem, instead of trying to find and fix these old damaged wires consider a different solution....
Our drop-in, plug and play harness features heavier gauge wire, multi-layer protection that shields the wires from IR radiation, extreme heat, moisture, fuel and oil exposure, and the harness provides excellent protection from heavy abrasion and surface contact temps of 500°F+!
Each harness is handmade and comes with new connectors and an easy install guide. No wire splicing or connector crimping is necessary! The harness routes from the igniter, along the firewall, straight down the middle of the engine to each coil pack. When installed, the harness looks as if it was OEM, it is hard to tell it is there! Check out our coil control harness at Modern Concepts' ebay store!!!

-> BEFORE WE BEGIN, PLEASE NOTE:
THE DETAILS DISCUSSED IN THIS ARTICLE APPLIES ONLY TO THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME SUSPENSION CONFIGURATIONS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ROLL-CENTER ADJUSTMENT SPACERS, SUCH AS THE JZA80 CHASSIS (LEXUS SC300/400 & MKIV TOYOTA SUPRA) WHICH FEATURES A LOWER BALLJOINT WITH ITS STUD MATING DIRECTLY TO THE WHEEL SPINDLE INSTEAD OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM.
-> ROLL-CENTER ADJUSTERS, WHAT ARE THEY?
ROLL-CENTER ADJUSTERS ARE SPECIAL SPACERS FOR THE FRONT-END SUSPENSION THAT ARE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE STEERING AND HANDLING AS WELL AS CORRECT THE GEOMETRY SHIFT THAT OCCURS FROM LOWERING THE VEHICLE RIDE HEIGHT THROUGH THE USE OF COILOVERS OR LOWERING SPRINGS. FOR AWD VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN LOWERED, ROLL-CENTER ADJUSTERS CAN HELP IN CORRECTING AXLE GEOMETRY AS A MEASURE TO HELP STOP AXLE JOINT FAILURE (OR AT LEAST PROLONG AXLE JOINT LIFE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AS IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH DROP IS BEING RUN. AWD VEHICLES SHOULD NEVER BE SUPER SLAMMED, AS THEY HAVE TIGHT OPERATIONAL LIMITS WITH RESPECT TO AXLE GEOMETRY WITH A MUCH SMALLER RANGE FOR HEIGHT LOWERING COMPARED TO RWD VEHICLES.
-> HOW DO ROLL-CENTER ADJUSTMENT SPACERS WORK?
The newest addition to our product catalog for enhanced steering! Especially useful in vehicles used for drifiting where there is no room for steering slop! Now available to purchase through our eBay Store.
